Almost Forgotten Beef Tea

Free Beef Tea Recipe: This nourishing drink was very popular in the 19th cetury. It was mainly used for invalids. Beef tea got replaced by the introduction of commercially prepared meat extracts and beef stock cubes. Still a very nice beef drink recipe!

Leg of Beef Recipe: Beef Tea

Leg of Beef Tea Ingredients:
1 lb leg of beef or beef shin, chopped very fine
Pinch of salt
2 and a half cups cold water

Beef Tea Recipe Procedure:

Plave chopped beef shin in a large jam jar and add water. Cover an place the jar in a deep pan containing water.
Cook the jar ocer a very low heat for 8 to 10 hours or put the jar in a very cool oven (275f./ 140c) for 12 hours.

Remove from pan / oven and strain the mixture through a sieve. Add and mix the salt well into the drink and serve hot.
